We would like to introduce you to our Ashtanga Yoga studio
in Paris. Ashtanga is a traditional form of yoga originating from Mysore,
India. It is dynamic and energizing, creating suppleness, strengthand
endurance, with the harmonizing of the body, breath and mind.
In addition to our daily classes we host internationally known ashtanga yoga
teachers in France and organize teacher trainings once a year. To encourage
students to study in India, we organize yoga retreats in the south of India.
We are located in the 13th arrondissement just off Avenue d’Italie.
You descend off the busy streets of Paris and arrive into our tranquil hide-a-way.
Hardly believing you are still in Paris, doing yoga in a room over looking
our private garden full of rich green vines, bushes of roses and lilacs.
We invite you to have a look at our website. Please do not hesitate
to contact us if you are interested in knowing more about us or ashtangayoga.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school.
Linda Munro first started yoga in 1996 in Toronto, Canada. She hadbeen
in a car accident in 1995 and was in physical therapy when she becameinterested
in yoga as a way to compliment the therapy.
After a couple of months she had recovered but realized that the yoga would
be a life time practice; a practice of asana, pranayama and meditation but
also a practice of being truthful, a practice of being kind, a practice of
being fearless, peaceful and happy. She believes that the practiceof
“yoga” is continuous. The practice of yoga includesthe
way you live your life, the way you relate to your family, friends, co-workers
and to the strangers on the street. This is the life long practiceof
developing yogic awareness.
The year 2000 brought her to Paris, France, with her work in fashion.
After thirteen years in the world of fashion she decided it was the timeto
move fully into the direction she had been moving since her first yogaclass.
She felt a strong desire to strive to give to others what herteachers have
given to her; so she left her fashion position and startedteaching yoga here
Gérald started Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in 1991 with Sri K Pattabhi Jois
in Mysore, India, where he spent two and a half years. He then, in between
studying in Mysore for 4 to 6 month periods, taught workshops in Australia,
New Zealand, USA and Europe. He was taught up to the third series and has
been authorized to teach by Sri K Pattabhi Jois. He then spent 5 years in
Auroville, an international community in Tamil Nadu, South India where he
taught Ashtanga daily. Gérald has settled in Paris where he has decided
to have a family with Linda.
